The Heights Ballet & Theatre School

Responding to COVID-19

Please find below all the information regarding our response to COVID-19 and how we have been, and will continue to adapt our teaching practices to keep our pupils and staff safe at this time.

January 2021 Lockdown

Teaching on Zoom

Following the government announcement of the latest lockdown rules, we are once again operating on Zoom for the foreseeable. The adapted timetable is available for parents and pupils to access via BAND.

When we return to normal, we do not expect to be using Zoom in the same capacity as we had to during the national lockdown, we anticipate that there may be times in which we may need to use it again e.g. during local/regional lockdowns, or extreme bad weather.

In these instances, we will inform you by 2pm on the day, if lessons are to take place on Zoom.

Teachers' Zoom codes are available in the Members' Area.

COVID-19 Response UPDATE

We have updated our COVID-19 response policy in order to keep our school safe and open. Please read through this updated guidance. This applies to ALL members of the Heights' community.

Returning to Lessons Inside

We have spent a lot of time planning our return to teaching inside in a safe manner ready for September. We have restructured the way pupils will be dropped off/picked up from lessons, closed off smaller, unnecessary areas to pupils, and designated each room its own toilet facility. Sanitiser stations will be available at each door, and pupils will remain in one room for all their lessons, as their teachers move to them.

Teaching Outside

For the latter part of the summer term 2020, we have been teaching outside in a socially distanced manner. All pupils have a 3m x 3m 'pod' to dance in, marked out with our new marquees and colourful bunting. A portaloo is available and cleaned weekly. Hand sanitiser is available on arrival.

While we expect to be back in the hall in September 2020, we hope to be able to continue teaching outside when the weather allows.
